This vase was hand built from coils using a speckled buff stoneware clay. The surface is painted with local clay material foraged from the Tierrasanta neighborhood in San Diego, CA and then carved with vertical lines to add texture. The interior is coated in a white matte glaze, symbolizing budding flowers beneath the earth's surface in spring.
